i need to stop living in this mindset that every sentence i type out does not have to end with “haha” or “lol”
Maybe you’re just a very entertained person. God knows we need more laughter in the world as-is :P

So I’ve just perused the new ‘American Foods’ section on Amazon UK.
If you are American and reading this, I am so surprised you are alive right now.
So I’m just gonna go off on a tangent here. I know most of my stuff is silly and fun, and I’ll come back to that, I promise. I just wanna talk about something I just realized. You don’t have to read it; that’s totally fine. I just wanna get stuff on ‘paper’.
I’ve come to realize that in this world, there’re actually two types of education. We always bundle ‘dude learnin shit’ into one overarching classification of ‘education’, but it’s actually split into two pieces:
Number 1 is stuff like documentaries. When you watch one of these, you’re not doing it for an ultimate goal - you’re sitting there, watching cheetahs devour their prey because you find the act of discovering nature enjoyable.
Number 2 is stuff like university. People don’t often tend to go to Uni so that they can learn - they go so they can learn so that they can get a job. Not everyone is under this branch, but you’ll be pushed to find someone who says “Oh, yeah, I’m here cause it’s fun. That’s it!”.
So why should we care? Simple; identifying what a source of education focuses on reveals how they’ll teach. Someone who teaches Number 1 will teach for you -their material will be for you, their attention will be directed to you. Their goal is to make you happy and give you enough to keep you satisfied. Number 2 will teach for the goal -they will discard you wants and desires for what your goal wants and desires. They won’t teach you what you want to know, they’ll teach what the employers want you to know.
I’m actually seeing this division in my own degree. In the main part, Computer Science, we’re always taught to how the employers want us to work. “Do this, because they like this! Do that, because they need that!” It’s all about them, because the degree is all about us learning to then be picked up by them. However, I also take Japanese as a side module, and the teacher there isn’t focusing on ‘business Japanese’ or trying to land us jobs in translation or teaching. We gather as a class, he opens a textbook, and we all read and chat and laugh and have a lot of fun. It’s really awesome.
I’m not saying either one is bad- they both accommodate needs that people have. If you want a certain skill that you want to use in jobs, and don’t really care very much about it, take a job-based education. If you have a love and want to learn more about it, take a you-based education. Taking a you-based one for a job skill will leave you shallow and somewhat jobless, and taking a job-based one for a love of yours will tear your love apart and ‘industrialize’ it.
Whatever you do, never forget to do you-based education. I’ve seen many people constantly converting their loves and skills into money-makers, essentially becoming one with the machine. Being in a science-based degree, we often laugh at those doing Art, English or Media Studies for their ‘lack of employability’ - but at the end of the day, when we all graduate, all those guys have to do is settle down with a good job, a good house, and be happy. Those of us still on the rat-run, only giving a shit about employability, will constantly demand more and more, never stopping. If we based our education around making more money, we’re sure as hell going to base our jobs around making more money. Then it’ll be the case of the artists settling down after a probably initially rough start with a family and being happy, and the computer scientists earning triple that of the artists, selling their soul, sleep and happiness to their jobs, always demanding more.
Me? After Computer Science, I think I might start hunting down you-based education. A lot of the jobs I’ve cooed over just want ‘a degree’ to get in, and CS will fit the bill nicely. I’ll step off the rat run, settle in with a wage hovering around the ‘average’ mark, and concentrate on enjoying life rather than making money.
Well, thanks for reading. I know it’s ‘not me’ to talk about shit like this, but even lunatics like me have these sort of realizations :3
You scored 49 Heterosexuality, 60 Homosexuality, and 45 Asexuality!
You are either gay or bisexual (preferring your own gender) with a moderate to high sex drive. The higher your score in homosexuality, the more you are attracted to your own gender.A higher asexuality score means that you place a bigger emphasis on the emotional aspects of a relationship and less on the physical.|:You scored 44 Heterosexuality, 30 Homosexuality, and 37 Asexuality!
You’re highly sexed but do not appear to be interested in either gender. The higher your score in either the heterosexual or homosexual variable, the more interested you are in that gender.Or there was a problem with the test, or you skipped all the questions. o_OwhatYou scored 51 Heterosexuality, 34 Homosexuality, and 39 Asexuality!

So I know barely anyone follows me, but here goes:
Dori has been awesome and posted that she’ll help people who ask for advice and stuff. I’m also gonna state that I too am available for advice giving. You can send anons if you want, that’s totally fine. Sometimes in my spare time, I help people in Reddit’s Suicide Watch, so don’t feel like your problems too big or small or w/e :3
Protip.
Never ever ever ever ever do a presentation for 7 mins in a foreign language which you’re not fluent in.
I had to for Japanese. You know those moments in presentations where your mind goes blank? It’s like that, but when you go to recoup, you’re desperately trying to word the sentence you’re recouping with in a language you can’t speak properly in in an everyday situation, let alone in front of others.
It went really well - JUST NEVER AGAIN
